the last dandelion of summer

scout gave me the last dandelion in our yard today, running through the overgrown grass to pluck it out of the weeds. it made me a bit sad that we won’t have any more flowers to pick for quite a few months, but the little yellow fluff sitting on my kitchen windowsill will last a little while longer, and while it does, i’ll enjoy it.

No creature is fully itself till it is, like the dandelion, opened in the bloom of pure relationship to the sun, the entire living cosmos.
