excuses, excuses

the last time the outside world heard from me i had declared that i was turning the page and was ready for anything. ha! i can hear the all encompassing laughter from here, but i do feel the need to be a bit smug because i have, after all, lived through the last week.

saturday scout woke up at 330 a.m. with a stomach bug. she proceeded to throw up every half an hour until around 1.

sunday, we recovered.

monday, we were lulled into a false sense of security. meatbagz had a major run last week (yay!) and so we put together orders, shipped them out, and generally felt good about the world.

tuesday, bug woke up at 4 a.m. with a stomach bug.

which continued with lots of puking and more laundry than i ever imagined until last night.

but the good news is, not only have we lived through it, i’ve still been knocking things off my massive to-do list and managing to function. sure, that also led to extreme exhaustion and going to bed every night at 9, and completely ignoring the fact that i said i was going to blog more regularly, but hey, i’ll take survival however i can get it.

so aside from the laundry, constant hand washing (luckily i had the foresight to forbid any adults in the household to get sick, so we dodged that particular bullet), and regular disinfecting of, well, everything, there hasn’t been much to blog about.

except this:

yesterday, barf bag in hand, we all managed to make it to scout’s kindergarten music assembly.

and it was adorable.

scout’s class sang “head, shoulders, knees, and toes” and then also played “twinkle, twinkle little star” on their musical boomsticks.

i tell you, you haven’t lived until you’ve heard a bunch of kindergartners do vocal warm ups going “oooooohhhhhhhh, ooooooohhhh!” it was really awesome, and i’m glad that we were all able to go.

and even though bug was feeling under the weather and routinely informed us “i gonna throw up”, he didn’t, and he definitely enjoyed his sister’s performance up on stage.

i think.

so, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, onward and upward, world! goodbye sickness (please?!?), hello spring, and i really will be back to blogging more regularly.

i think.
